Va’ Pensiero – the Pearl of Italian Culinary in East Finchley opened its doors on the high Street some 3 years ago. The third in a small chain of smart yet relaxed Italian restaurants featuring a great abstract artwork on the walls, in the evening also with a beautiful candle lights, simple elegant wood furniture and plenty of space, it’s exactly what even the most sophisticated customers needed in this beautiful area of NorthWest London.
The menu with 6 pages is big enough to satisfy every tastes, with pizza and pasta being favorites. We began with a glass of smooth Pinot Grigio Cabernet and starters of calamari deep-fried in breadcrumbs with a touch of Lemon sauce. The Insalata di Rucola appeared simple and appetizing in a beautiful friendly summery atmosphere.
For mains there’s a great deal of meat and fish dishes, pizzas and pastas alongside regularly changing specials. Va’ Pensiero is building an excellent reputation for its tasty pasta, with so many varieties. Friendly floor stuff is always ready to help, so there is no problem to ask and choose your own ingredients. The penne alla fiorentina, including spinach sautéed in garlic with mozzarella cheese in a tomato sauce and a dash of cream or The Fettucini alla Halibut with pieces of Halibut fish in a delicious tomato sauce with dash of cream is just perfect choice to be happy.

Desserts also offer a big choice with traditionals like tiramisu and panna cotta or crepes filled with banana and ice cream. On the top of everything, there is a great value children’s menu for families so take your time and pop-in into the Italian Haven of Va’ Pensiero.
